The Food Science and Technology Division specialises in all aspects of food manufacture to satisfy the current needs of the world’s population. Human Nutrition
The science of human nutrition encompasses all interactions between dietary nutrients and the human body. By studying how individual food components are digested, absorbed, metabolised, and utilised, their effects on genes, cells, organs, and the whole person can be understood. Animal Nutrition
Animal Nutrition focuses on improving animal health and welfare by concentrating on improving animal feeds. Along with our highly skilled staff we have the IANZ approved analytical Nutrition Laboratory which as well as providing facilities for research testing it is available as a commercial testing facility.

Health and Life Sciences
Health promotion with an increased focus on wellness and disease prevention combined with knowledge and understanding of the contribution that the natural environment may make to community health is becoming increasingly important. Environmental factors (natural and mechanical) do have a major impact on human health and well being. Research in the division focuses on the detection, examination and determination of the risk these environmental factors play on human health.
